yeah bro, if u have a stable 100 fps avg ,it s perfect, 66 isnt enough imo...but back in 2008 it wasnt that easy to hit :p over 100 fps i m not sure if our eyes are able to notice a real difference in fluidity...setting the max around 200 or more on UT3 is just for testing, depending from ur tastes of course....imo for gaming a stable 100fps is better than continually fluctuating between 100 and 200

I agree with you, it was just for testing my rig. I have set the cap limit to 120, which is enough for my GC and my eyes ;)
And I just test with COD Black ops full high setting, I optain stable 90 fps, and I confirm it's quit confortable to play !

i changed it myself from 66 to 201!....lol....no need more....201 s perfect...101 was also perfect but i wasnt abble to see when the card was working hard thx anyway m8
You have to modify the UTEngine.ini file, \Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config Look for MaxSmoothedFrameRate and change that value.
Off course !
Thx ;)
I just make the test in shangrila, with the max smoothframerate set to 202, I obtain a decent 130-140 FPS average with piks to 202, I'm find with that ;)
i pushed it a lil deeper, OCed my phenom higher with less voltage by tweaking the bus speed: cpu:4.00ghz @ 1.435v ...4.15ghz @ 1.44v & 4.25ghz @ 1.45v cpuNB :3.00ghz @ 1.23v
my lil watercooling was doing its job nicely but....dont ask me why....i had the idea to check on E-Bay about radiators and pumps prices....in two clicks i found better radiator and pump....i won the auctions for 35€ , immediatly have put muy old pump and radiator on the net and ...i sold em in less than 1 hour for higher prices than thoses i bought :D
EK-Waterblocks EK DCP 2.2 400l/h 2.2m -----> Phobya DC12-400 800l/h 4.0m Magicool 240 Ultra 276 x 120 x 46 mm ------> EK Waterblocks CoolStream RAD-XTX360 398 x 123 x 47mm + CoolStream RAD-XT120
héhé...good deal...and now i ll try to push a lil more on cpu voltage, i heared this cpu can hit 4.4ghz with "decent" voltages
i did some "tuning" on my side panel by "cutting" in in two parts, one with the WC reservoir and the other became a door easy to open and very handy i ll finish the painting and will take some picts , the pc look like a truck with its big 450mm tube out on the case side
after 2 years of use i thought my phenom was a lil outdated and i installed it in my sons PC.....lol....to replace it i just installed a FX8350....it s a funky tool OCing more easily than expected with "decent" voltages but i had to push it hard to outperform my good old phenom to beat a 6x4.2 OCed phenom i had to push the FX up to 5.00ghz and sometimes more (for 3DM06 i had to push @ 5.2ghz!!) @ equal clocks frequencies and....with two cores less.... the Phenom II uberpown the FX !! but as the FX OC limit is more far 5.2ghz vs 4.2ghz it take the lead around 5.00ghz
what is weird is that it shows only 6 cores on all monitoring tool, perhaps a bad chip with two dead cores....i quite hope it s this, this way it means it can perform better with the two missing cores but on the other hand if i can escape the RMA delay...
so....as it performs better i m happy but tbth i was expecting a lil more and when i was asking on OC forumz if the price worth the update i had like to hear someone telling me with no doubts as i can say it now:
(if nothing change because of the two "hidden" n missing cores) NO !!SPENDING 200€ to get 5 or 10 % power more isnt such a good deal!.....just to share
Hi mate, what's your CPU score in 3DM06? And what's the CPU score with your phenom II? CPU-Z 1.62 should show full 8 cores/threads so I guess that 8350 is really defective. Unless there is some option enabled in the BIOS to dedactivate cores. What about windows task manager, only 6 cores here too? After all this is more likely a FX-6300 :(
i sended the cpu back and they sended back to me my 200€....i immediatly bought another one from another site for 175€ .. after installation :same s**t = 6 cores on 8 only....googled a lot and found the problem: from windows allowing 6 cores only...set by myself long time ago in msconfig..... the problem is that following the guidance from windows to cure it , it have ended with my pc trying to boot with 0 cores allowed +.+ it should be for one boot only but a lil hidden option not unlooked and i was in a bsod infernal loop with 0 cores involved..... took me 1 hour more to extract my datas n maps on another pc and here i am with a fresh w7 and 8 cores...finaly working in harmony and kicking arses i retire my critiques about the cpu, nothing comparable with the phenomII...faster everywhere @ stock settings cant wait to tweak it a lil
héhéhé...was finaly a very good deal, the chip clocks higher with 8 cores than the previous one with 6
got it running some benches @ 5.3ghz v-core=1.475v LLC:extreme ,it never have hit 45°c under full charge, it seems i have some room to increase the voltage it seems to require more to be stable under stress for now i m @ 5.1ghz v-core=1.46875v LLC:extreme ....OCCT here i am
i finaly have this vishera stable like a rock @ 5.00ghz under 60°C, it wasnt easy to achieve but if u have a decent motherboard it does worth its 175€....cant understand all that bad mouthing around AMD, sure it cant perform like a 300€ or more cpu, but all games run on max settings and all programs are fast tbh i had some problems with some games like the Crysis serie, portal2 and even with UT3...after some tweakings all is working except the "cooking" process in the UT3 ed...
here are some results
cinebench: all cores:8.49 one core:1.32 aida64: read:14993 write:12830 copy:18835 3DM06:26027
a fully stable working PC with UT3 and the editor ready to run (with a last fix to find for the cooking thing )...no more milk tourneys....damn i m quite back to buisness
last build i did for one of my wife s workmate to replace an old intel 775 socketed PC....i just have keep the original Packard Bell case.... nice pricing on all parts imo , the HD 7770 hits 17000 3DM06 points with the phenomII 965 @ stock settings...
lol....i stopped to talk about the PCs i build for others because it would be too long but just some words to tell that i did some changes on my PC:
- SSD 120 GB KINGSTON HyperX replaced by SSD 240 GB KINGSTON HyperX....240 GB are enough for the main drive (even with UT3... & UT2004 with a tremendous list of custom maps n mods) my son received the old SSd120 GB to replace his velociraptor and i can see a large smile on his face at each restart of the PC
-i just ordered 2 MSI GTX670 Power Edition to replace my MSI660Ti/PE....in fact i was looking for a second one and i found a pair of 670 for a very nice price on a sort of local "EBay"...i m really happy to toy with a SLI again...though hats off to the 660Ti...a very good card for its price
-i m going to change my 4x2 GB RAM hyperX for a 2x8 GB from the same brand...next month...RAM isnt that cheap by theses days +.+
i still rolling my 8350 @ 5.00 GHZ since more than a year and it s the most impressive CPU i ve had in the hands since i use PCs
did i mention that i ve build the whole WMC system in the house by adding a 12volts electric circuit , PC fans and a red lighted fans controller...12v eats nothing vs 220/230V
i ll take some picts when i ll install the 670s....and play some Epic UT3 games to test em
I've been eyeing off the new Intel processors, especially the 6 core ones. They look nice but building a system will be quite pricey, especially if you go down the DDR4 path. Hopefully mobo and DDR4 prices will go down sometime soon! If I ever get enough cash I'll build one up with a 980gtx and an m.2 spec SSD.
Seeing the consumer version of the Oculus Rift now isn't due out until 'first quarter' 2016, at the earliest, don't be surprised if you see a post from me stating I've ordered the DK2 kit. I've been holding off with hope it'd be out next year but my willpower can't wait another 12 months+. I'm very highly considering getting one for xmas.
yeah....shame that all thoses intel parts are so expensives and didnt last longer at the top because as you said some 6 cores should seriously kick in! no idea about the DDR4...except that it will help DDR3 pricing to get down ...let us know when you do the DDR+1 jump i d be very interrested to hear about the improvements....dunno what are doing the AMD devs...so long time since the last "new" cpu architechture....and i m not tempted into the cpu+gpu APU thing +.+
and about the oculus rift, it s like for DDR4...id like to be sure that it worth its money, but hell yeah....on the paper it s something fantastic! it will be cool to have an opinion from a friend (when you ll test it...)
LOLz!
Back in the day when I had my 275gtx's I almost went triple...almost.
It was wise that I didn't as my case at the time had terrible airflow and I would have cooked a card or two, especially seeing I had heat issues with just the two cards.
yup, you are right about the heat.....my first doubt is about the psu....1000w....enough or not....+ i just have read about the improvements between 2 or 3 cards.....not fantastic....lol....not that "sure" i want to try finally
The triple SLi benefit, I think mainly relies on wether the mobo/cpu are designed to take advantage of it. I remember the first gen i7's (socket 1366) made good use of tri-SLi.
I reckon your 1000w PSU should be enough to run the three cards.

yo seb ...shame i like it so much because i seriously miss the "build a new rig" process....i m tempted to put all back in a classical case,as my wife is a lil' pissed by the current airflow 2 meters around the PC....lol...windy weather blasting my livin' room!
received the beast today....what a card!....what a box!....and my lucky son was allowed by my wifey to keep n install the GTX670s in SLI...lol...he told he will play GTAV in full HD now...+.+
Holy crap that IS a beast! Damn I need a new rig... I want a high refresh monitor 120/144Hz synced and the puter to drive it! Everyone that switches to a high refresh monitor says it's almost an unfair advantage.
well....i found some nice deals... and i run now 2 x 780 lightning.....funny thing there s a light indication on the cards telling how hard it push on them...and while playing the new UT....ONLY one card is working, well....i bet the game is simply not SLI compatible by now... here for example the lightning text is red.....it push on both hard....when it s green or blue it s cool, and the cards are....hùm.....relaxed
for the rest, this SLI combined with an OCed FX is a pure kill:
3DM11 ...i ll have to try to push the cpu at 5.3 ghz....just for the fun
new rig specs last adds:
SSD samsung 850EVO 456GB
Corsair HX1200i
both working very nice
BTW i found this very interressant and surprising.....even if one year outdated
That is a beautiful rig! Now you just need to get a good internet connection and you'll be back in action! Any progress on that front? (getting wiring from the pole?)
thanks Martin.....sadly not, i saw em working but....too far from home for now :-/
.....patience i ll have to learn (Yoda needs to teach me this haha)....by luck we play a lot in lan with family, good kids are enough skilled to challenge old dad now
just some words to share my feelings about the last AMD cpu: RYZEN....let me say that for the price it works nicely in game and anywhere else in fact. in add the power consumption is fantastic, and that was really not the same story with the FX serie, lol....i was toying with FX9370 and FX9590 the last monthes....thoses two are really toasters and the heat to dissipate is really fantastic....my son is the one who cry about it now...mwhahahaha last point, it overcloocks nicely, by now i run it @4.00ghz with only 1.38v / vcore and my psu tells that it never eats more than 100w...i just cant believe that i would be abble to crunch all my 3DM scores by using the half of electric power....on a AMD cpu yup the world is going wrong, but lol at least AMD not i hope you re all fine
Nice mate, which mode did you get?
Ryzen seems to be a very nice CPU from what I've seen so far. I'll definitely look into it when building a new system .
