Well it's not the top, but it's not bad ! The main goal of this config is to obtain a workstation who can handle quit easily my multimedia activities, I mean games & mapping of course, but also play HD movie in hight quality sound via S/PDIF and my AV Yamaha receiver, and also and mainly, have a solid DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).
For this last point, my first test with the Asus Xonar D2x are really impressive ! Before, with the on board sound card, I had an awful latency of 70 ms (which mean, when I hit a key from my Behringer keyboard , the sound took 70 ms to be heard - I.E. bad) Now, I run under 10 ms of latency, which is good ! And the the sound is amazing clear, with crystal treble, and powerful bass. The only bad point to this card is the weird drivers, they seems very unstable actually (I need to wait a fresh install of the OS on the new HDD to confirm that because I have a lot's of audio drivers from creative, realtek still on my pc so...) and the fact that you have to change manually the source you play (I.E. 7.1 or 2.0 channels) to hear something via the S/PDIF coaxial, it's a shame because other manufacturer like realtek or creative drivers do that without any intervention from you...)

yeah, depending what u want to stress or test : ...
i hope u ll find the one that fits to your needs
Hehe, thx for the among of test lol !
I just need a general test to see the enhancement of the perf, or not lol
There is no general performance. Totally depends on what you want to test and this is why Blitz posted a nice list for very different components (e.g. CPU, GPU, HDD, Memory...)
If you want to cover all in one test have a look at PC Mark. Well, or windows Performance Index, haha.
Btw, you should really consider to get an additional SSD for OS and certain progs. It will really improve your 'experience'.

I have already consider that point !
Actually the main things who stop me it's the ratio price/Go.
I would use it only for the storage of my sounds banks, but I need at least 500 Go...
Yeah the price per Gb isn't that crash hot but I also highly recommend a SSD for your OS drive! It's like running dual screens...once you do dual screen, you can go back...once you go a SSD based OS...you can't go back! Muuuuch smoother!!
DAMN ! 2 days I try to install Win7 on my new HDD...without any results !
The HDD (sataIII 6g/s) is connected on a specific SATA III port (a grey one) on my asus mobo. I have first try to set the bios properties to AHCI for the HDD but win7 don't want install on it, it say this drive is not supported or something like that.. I have try in IDE, I obtain a black screen and the HDD led light continuously, and the pc looks frozen... I have try to connect the HDD with a USB external box and win7 see it properly...
So WTF ??
There is a setting I miss on the bios? Do you think my HDD is defective ?

try to connect to another sata port, not sure how it work on yours but on my asus i have different sata "managers" (AMD for some and intel for the others....) i remember some wasnt working properly for the windows install and on some others it was working nicely
of course u will not have AMD on your mobo but perhaps one port isnt activated or need some "driver"...or is simply broken...verify that no sata is working with this HDD...
it can be defective , i have a raptor here that can be used as storage and work ok for that but i cant install windows on it....dont ask me why ...lol^^ tough...if u cant get any port working i m scared your HDD is defective...
perhaps am i missing something on intel boards, i m an AMD freak ...i m sure someone will help
Very kewl! I had a feeling you were a clean / organized perfectionist with your home like you are with other things, this all makes sense. ;)
Love that keyboard / Midi and the Korg, i'm surprised you don't remix or mix your own music (maybe you do) - looks like you have a good quality of life there bro.

I tend to be more clean in my home (it was not by past lol) but it's true I'm a perfectionnist with sound, I'm an audiophile since many years now and I like pure sound (I've collect or do a lots of albums in FLAC format, the best compressed digital format because it's lossless, MP3 suck!).
Yes I do my own music since about 10 years now ;)
And there is already 2 maps with my own music track on it, DM-Aero-NE and DM-TowersArena-2k9.

I was wondering about that. That's good music in there. I guess I should actually read readme's more often.
