Who said hey we should make our own map pack ...  (if the CBP mappers can do it why can't we .. blah blah blah)

A few people (who would become some of the best mappers on the scene) weren't too sure of the idea.

The UOF map packs were eventually born of these notions.

Any way thats about as far of a walk down memory lane as I want to take at the moment; the future is looking quite a bit better for me right now, its been a rough / rocky yeah and a 1/2. Sorry for the disappearing act guys, i'm glad to see most of you still active.

Hiya Nova (little bro) - Eric, Steve, Mick, Acher .. ((Where is Odedge, Thrallala & Dies?)) good to see the new members. What about our friend HOXX?

Any way I'll catch you guys up on my the reasons for my hiatus soon.

I hadn't fired the editor up in oh I don't know a good year+ maybe a year and a 1/2. So i've been running the editor again for about a week, (things finally settled down enough in my life that I had time to catch my breath and do some simple things that I used to enjoy) I'd like to use my old account so i'll need to reset the password or something, maybe someone can give this account admin and i'll take care of it or we can discuss in PM.

I still have an arsenal of unfinished maps on the cutting block. - I'm finishing UOF-CTF-Rainbase before anything else though. I'd like to release it as a bonus / addon map if possible.  I have no idea how many 100's of hours I put into the map but its a shame it never was finished. We've still played a lot of UT3 (on LAN) regularly off and on when we've had time.  Still doing the 5 or 6 vs bots on inhuman thing (instagib) when we play.

Bummer about Cliff leaving Epic; it might be upto peops like us to push them to relsease a 4th installement of UT. Aight i'll be checking back here off and on over the coming days.

Thrallala still haunts the forums but I don't think he's mapping anymore as he only posts occasionally.
Not sure about Odedge and Dies is still around but is very busy with RL iirc.

yeah just to update last news from Ode & thrallala....
Thrallala asked to me if i still was having his lava material saved somewhere on my HD so...if i remember well he told me he wanted to work on a "last" map
Ode is ok, we e-mail eachother from time to time, he s buzy in RL and doing other things, perhaps back one day.....or not
could be very fun to have the full dreamteam for the "upcoming" pack....

Uncle Steve!!!  <<how they heck are ya! northern buddy ..>> yes its true RL has been a challenging adventure, in the past 1.5 year: this year my mothers property burned (she is 76), last year: I lost my older brother, my son was hospitalized, (he's OK now thankfully) but all very sad things .. I had to have 2 surgeries (kidney stones) bleh - I was thinking man I'm too young to die ... lol / Very glad to be back and even more glad that you are all here. - You guys are sort of like an extended family IMO.

On a good note I'm back at the gym 4 days a week (I'll be leaving to work out in abour 1 hour) I'm - back to feeling good and healthy again physically / emotionally etc. (do you guys remember my story about my clavical? breaking my collarbone at the gym) - These days I'm lifting with better technique, warming up / stretching, taking & eating more calcium foods etc. I must be an extreme guy though to compound snap a bone like that (or I just had/have very weak bones - yawn) Any way I'm glad you guys put up with my xtreme personality and i'll be trying to behave myself.

Ah got it. That Kid had / has some serious mapping tallent, & polished his people skills to boot; he really seemed like he came a long way considering the whole language barrier thing - its already easy enough to misunderstand on the net .. (you know lack of facial expressions / tone / etc.) that's why I like these little icons Mick. This one is my favorite  ----> bleh  .............. wink  (glad Dies is finding time to map still - hes another talented guy)

Yeah I know the feeling (I have around 5 or 6 unfinished maps) buzzing around the operating room. I wasn't sure if I wanted to use finesse or a chainsaw to finish them though.

Tell Odedge/Mr. Thoroughness I said what up when ya mail him sometime. (If I decide I feel like pestering him maybe I'll get his email from you and put him on all the spam lists I can find) ........ j/k

Upcoming pack? another one? beam me up scotty ..... I'm working on Rainbase - I'll have some updated screens on the weekend and the first beta (I know I know... should have had one like a hundred years ago) ready in 2 or 3 weeks / I have a different internet connection so I can upload with out the constant failures that plagued me before. no I intend to finish UOF-CTF-Rainbase even if you guys were the only ones to ever play it. I'll need some testing soon.

Well, with all those things that as happen, you become a stronger person (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually speaking), I don't doubt that everything will be sorted out with time.

Steve ... really appreciate what you said .. kind, wise, intelligently spoken words ((maybe I'll re-read that once in a while)) Not only can ya map but ya speak dang inspirationally at times.  - I hear ya; i'm trying to remember with all the things that happened (especially regarding my older brother - which has been a really tough one) I need to keep moving forward and go on with my life. simple as that.
