Rather nice this imo. An unusual layout, good level of detail, colour tones decent and not many errors as far as I can see form the couple of plays I’ve given it.
Not quite as well put together as DM Warehouse but pretty decent none the less. A bit washed out looking but the guy has a good eye for distance architecture.
It’s got a few problems, water isn’t right and grass has no proper texture (don’t know how you mapping guys describe it) but overall its fun to play and rather unusual in that’s its half Holp style.
I don’t know what the position is with Epic forums with regard to posting other peoples work (?) but I thought the people here might be interested in these.
thx for sharing bro, i dont have "oceanside" but i try to always keep an eyes on UTZone.de, several mappers post there and not on Epics forums.... i know so many mappers banned from epics that it had be quite impossible that noone of em still mapping elsewhere...utzone.de is a very friendly place and remind me Beyond unreal under certain angles
needs preview shot, a low poly map made in the HOLP style for sure. This map has decent lighting/shadows, trim, layout and flow with good weapon placement and decent bots. The bots let the enemy team waltz in for the first capture, but we (I did actually while they defended) returned for 3 straight to take the match. Not sure if the green on floors is moss, mold or grass, but I would think it not grass. The water surface is a little shiny, but it has something to do with the shadow/reflection in it. The textures/meshes are good by themselves, but don’t look good together (i.e. – the brick walls, ceilings and tile floors are too close in color and clash a bit). I would have left the brick and chosen something else for ceilings and floors; in fact, the mossy floors don’t look right next to the brick either. Otherwise, the map plays fine like a small CTF map and is fun.
It needs a preview shot and some spots it would have been nice to be accessible. I like the ambient water sounds, but seems like no music and I can’t go in for a swim in this seaside map. I thought some interesting additions were the small garden, statues, different buildings, utilities, slime sewer, smokestacks and factories. Some stuff can get in the way, but nice powerup locations and some surprises. I didn’t think it was necessarily washed out, but it could have used a bit more color. The bots are decent and sometimes somewhat deceiving in this sort of typical city map.
Of course, I have about 750 maps installed right now. Not as easy to add up in UT3. I took total files in custom maps and subtracted around 40, then divided by 3. But then I forgot about the maps other places in UT3.....whatever.
