I am guessing that Bl!tz is the only one with UT 3 server experience, so...
For the fun of it, I decide to get a small (10 player max) private (isn't advertised in the server browser) UT 3 server. I have it setup so I can at least play against the bots, but I have a few questions.
1. How do you setup a custom map list (to include custom maps)?
2. Is there a way to have a map list that includes TDM and Greed maps?
3. I believe Bl!tz is familiar with Map Mixer? When this goes final, is it hard to use this for a dedicated server?
I may have more questions later, but I just want to learn the essential parts.

1.it s exactly the same way as in a "personnal" install....the biggest difference is that u have to moove files with a ftp ("filezilla" rules! & easy use) when the maps are installed u ll just have to use the admin console to set the map rotation & map list
2.i dunno if u can have different gametypes on same map rotation but u can set a "custom" list for each gametype
3.yes i m familiar to mapmixer but for "my" server settings i have gone for UTcompv3 which include a nice vote system (u can escape the maprotation with it and it allow players to choose & vote for custom maps that are installed but not in rotation) i plane to add mapmixer when final (but it s toooo loooong & it s beta since ages...haha)
rulaman and acrassicauda have ut3 servers too....and rula is way far more skilled than me to set a server ; his one is full of little "gadgets" like custom sounds and huge map list....
ps: if you want ode i can give u admin "rights" for thunderland so u can watch how it s set and learn how work the admin console...just ask and i ll pm ya ;)
for filezilla it s easy programm but first time you not sure where to put infos; if you need some kind of help just ask :)

I already have a ftp program, so uploading the maps isn't a problem. It's using the "admin console" that I am not familiar with. I do have access to the .ini file that determines the settings for my server. I thought you adjusted the rotation there. But when I added a custom map, it wasn't on the list.

That's what I thought. I think MapMixer can handle both . Ideally, I would like a bunch of TDM and Greed maps mixed in one big rotation!

Where do I get "UTcompv3"? I am a big fan of MapMixer, but who knows when the final will be released!

Isn't there just a list of console commands? I looked at the section on the Epic forums for server admins and found some useful info. Right now, I just need to be able to add custom maps. I also got the redirect to work, but it was really slow. Since the server is private, the players should have the maps installed before hand, but it's a nice backup feature. How do you compress the files?
i ve send ya the log ; pass & link to the thunderland console admin so u can have a look by your self ;)
Sounds good.
I uploaded a custom map and was able to switch to it with a console command, but it doesn't show up in the map rotation. This is what I have for my rotation in the "[UTGame.UTGame]" section:
when you have uploaded a map on yer server u just have to add it in the map rotation via the webadmin console( edit the map list and copypaste on maprotation list)
as far as the map is uploaded and after a server reboot u can vote for it via utcomp menu even if the map isnt in rotation
to have it in rotation u just have to add it to the list
btw did u have the link to yer adminconsole? if not just check yer user infos on your providers page( should be there but each provider have different place for it) and if u dont find it ...ask it to them ;)

I am confused mapper trying to configure a server...
1. I downloaded the official webadmin .zip file. I enabled it in the UTWeb.ini file and reloaded the file to my server.
2. I installed the "Web" folder to my own website. I opened the Login.html file on my webiste, but I don't know what Username to enter. Also, how does it know what server to connect to.
Why can't I can't I just edit the UTGame.ini (think that's the correct one) on my server?
As for my adminconsole, when I log into my account, this is what I can do...
1. I have a CONFIG page that lets me change my UTGame.ini file. I can change this in a simple tab (that just has boxes for me to fill out) or I can change it on the advance tab, that lets me change the actual file.
2. I can also change the "Startup Command"
3. I can add admins.
4. I can "patch" the game to different version. I did this for 2.1, but I don't think it I can update it with the Titan pack, unless I manually upload the files.
install filezilla mate, the server ftp is a crap tool! confuse and not usefull....no lisibility...dl the files from the server to yer home ;modify them in yer home and resend them back to replace the old on your server ; )
OK, I fixed that "," that I missed. Good eye! I have my server to start with DM-RisingSun. When I am done with that level, I go to the voting tab and my custom map isn't there, though I added it in the list and it's uploaded onto the server in "Maps" folder.
As for the FTP program, I am using WISEftp, which is a good program that I have used since I got my website. So no worries there.
Here are my current settings in the [UTGame.UTGame] section:
this is the default settings; each time i boot the server it goes on that map with thoses settings ; if the server crash u just have to reboot it and it goes back on the default settings
u have an option somewhere on the" provider console" to boot the server each 24 hours; this way if someone have modify the gametype or the mutators in use ; the server will go back automaticly each day on what YOU have choosen and u ll not have to reset it each time
while setting utcomp u can choose to allow players to vote for mutators or not having a daily autoreboot allow u to let more freedom for users to choose several options ; it s not important as far as the server goeas back alone on default settings:p
if u dont modify this line the server will reboot on stock default settings ( u cant choose and will have to set your choices via command lines or webadmin each reboot)
and after first game on the default map the map rotation take the relay (keeping the defaults settings:mutators and what u ve add to the default setting
srry i know it s not really clear but this feeling will go away after some use and it my fault too ;i want to add so many details that finally i m not really clear ...lol^^
