Story / Histoire:

Once occupied by Axon, this base under rock was used to store mainly toxic containers. It was discovered by coincidence by the Necris. The Necris have setup this base & use it as a 'Nano' storehouse. We can found several types of Nano, the yellow, the yellow/orange, the green & the black.

Autrefois occupée par les Axon, cette base sous roches servait de dépôt de produits toxiques en conteneurs. Elle fut découverte par hasard par les Necris. Les Necris ont aménagé cette base & s'en servent comme dépôt de 'Nano'. On y retrouve plusieurs types de Nano ; la jaune, la jaune/orange, la verte & la noir.

Comments:

This is my second map. The DM version took more than 800 working hours split on 9 months. There is 11 500 items in this map. I hope you will like it All armors, medium health & powerups are very easy to collect, therefore are placed in dangerous spots. About the jumppads, I made everything I can to set them right. By taking them from front, there is no problem & you get use to them rather quickly

As for the GRD version, well friends of mine who play Geed game type ask me to make a Greed variation of Nano. I decide to make it. I also decide to do lot’s of pickups changes & do other minors stuff.

I'm getting a average of ±55 FPS or more playing against 19 bots with my rig in 1680x1050 everything set to max. My PC specs are :

OCZ 600 Watt
Asus P5N-D (NF750i)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.0 GHz/1333/6M)
4 GB OCZ Reaper (DDR2 800 Mhz CAS 3.4.4.15)

GRD maps are easy. Just change the name to CTF rather than DM, chuck a read and blue flag base in ya map then add team player starts and ya done!

2 ways possible when u join a server on a map u dont have installed in yer custom maps:

1)direct DL from server but it s very slow and UT3 maps files are sometimes (often) big size it can take quite a full hour!...it cant use compression

2)using redirect: u set a redirect adress in the ini of your server and when someone join the server he s redirect on hosting site to DL the map files but you need to compress the files in a special format:UZ3 and to use special programs like UT3Vice to do it and if the map isnt uploaded on the redirect database it just dont work :(

...90% of the redirect was hosted by gameserver but they closed down their redirect some month ago with no delay....was the big panic on servers ;no more redirect working!gameserver redirect was "sticky thread" on epics forum and since they have close down the new sticky hosting site is MPGaming.com but they are new on it (and bored to upload maps:p)

so i have uploaded there all my maps and all uof mappers maps (nano & station12 ;Egitim; Paradox & TowersArena2k9;Terminal;BabylonNight & OrbitalDebris;Stasio...and many others )....in fact i had to upload 90 % of the maps in rotation on thunderland

but now it s done and all the servers admin using mpgaming.com redirect can use redirect on thoses maps ;)

yeah but nothing makes me more angry than to have to DL hours to join a game and to join each match at the end to count points lol
yeah it take time but it s the best deal to play custom content with mates....rofl i hope my UT partners will not read that....havent play since ages(fraqn mapping addiction now)...just had a quick run on hirax with bigal tonite...and.......was so goood ! :)

OK first of all I should have played this map a loooooong time ago and I'm sorry about that.

I have played it now and I must say, it's really well made, it feels like a map that could have been shipped with the game.

Only complaints would be, there's 1 place where there's jumpboots pickup and a hole through the roof above it, I thought I was supposed to use the boots to jump up there but that was not the case. ;)

Also, I like the custom jumppads but I think you should have done something more with them so that people know they are actually jumppads.

Finally, the rock material is kinda ugly :P.

Edit: almost forgot, while it isn't that noticable. I think you could have done something more with the sky.

Other than that, fantastic work. I love all the liftjumps etc.

I use it very often without any issue, the day after, without any reason, all my contacts as been deleted & I can't see no one anymore confuse It just happened like that furious

I did try several times to put my contacts back but it hasn't work. Also, all my contacts on hotmail as been deleted, very... very.....very odd !

I install MSN Live Messenger after, thinking it will resolve my contact issue but nothing as changed. Since, I don't une any MSN ****ty apps.

Greed/CTF stuff is rather easy to do. You just change the gametype to CTF in the world properties, add the two flag bases(I prefer two over one 'global' base) and use 'team player spawn' nodes rather than the normal player spawn nodes.

Mmm...

- Changing regular playerstart by team playerstart is very easy so it's ok.
- Putting the red & blue flags side by side or at the opposite of the map ???
- What about the powerups, I leave them there ???
- The map will be playable in CTF or in GRD or in both ???
- The layout doesn't fit for CTF so I would like the map to be greed only so just naming the map CTF-Nano isn't enough imho.

That is why a tut is essential for those basic questions....

The layout wouldn't be good for a CTF so you'd need to name it with GRD. The size of this map would be perfect for Greed though! thumbsup.gif

Regarding location of flag bases I honestly would prefer two seperate flag bases at opposite ends of the map as I like the thrill of having to get through enemy ranks to bank your skulls. If you get killed then the enemy can grab your skulls and then attempt to get them to the other side of the map hence raising the danger, and thrill during the match. Doing this also increases the chance of having high rollers in the map where they have say 30-40 skulls which can give one team the advantage....if they can successfully get to their flagbase.

Having both teams use the same flagbase isn't as much fun IMO as you just kill someone near near the flagbase then collect their skulls and bank them straight away which misses the thrill of trying to get across the map with a bunch of 'booty'.

THX m8 for the explanations,

Now I understand the fun aspect of placing the flag base more far away, at the opposite.

But where would be the ideal for both flag base in my case ? Only place I'm thinking is put 1 flag where the Link is placed & the other one where the Bio is placed but I'll have to move those weapons somewhere else... or do you have any suggestions ?

Also, the map name would have to be GRD-Nano if I'm correct ?

I just got an idea about the couduit placement :D

I can place them on the highest level where there are doors you can see a bit behind like the one near the link & the other one near the bio. What do youi think ???

& no one as answer me a bout the map name. It should be :

CTF-GRD-Nano or
GRD-Nano

Played a couple of games today against 19 adept bots, the biggest skulls amount I was able to collect was 31, it was damn fun. I didn't try with the Titan mutator, it could be even more awesome :D

Big thumbsup from me on ya Greed version m8! beer.gif
Took me a while to get my bearings and find the flagbase, which was a lotta fun, and once I knew where to go it was game on!
Greed plays very nicely with this map. I prefer this map as a greed map!
Nice intense action and roughly even gameplay on both sides which is good!
I like the flag base locations as the placement was quite thoughtful and they fit in naturally with the map! thumbsup.gif

One good thing with the design of this map is the balance of large areas and tight corridors as different weapons work better in different areas. For instance found shock combos work great as the bots form mini groups which can be taken out with shock combos spreading out a nice bounty of skulls to be collected, whereas a spread of rockets worked better in the more open spaces!

Yeah, this works well in greed mode steve. In fact, i prefer it in Greed mode to deathmatch. It took me a while to work out where the bases were. Do you have defense points in the bot pathing in greed mode? If so, might have been interesting to set a couple up close to bases.

Funny you like the GRD better than the DM. What is important is that you found a version you like.

I put defense point in strategics locations since the DM beta 1 & I didn't remove or reconfigure them for the GRD type.

Um, OK, so where do I start? Looks like a little Necris influence (or is it Borg?).;) This is a seriously sweet and dark map; I love the attention to detail, sounds and music. Looks like that one area has a bit of a Campgrounds influence as well.:) This has unbelievable gameplay, good item placement, and the bots are very good in DM, TDM, CTF and Greed. Some interesting CTF and Greed matches, but i think this map is more suited to DM/TDM; my team really sucked at CTF and, especially, Greed. It probably didn't help that I didn't know the layout. I'll have to play a few more times to figure where the F I am and WTF I'm doing.;) I'm not a big fan of the health/item "lockers" or the fake jumppads inside an enclosure. Ok, so it's a bit confusing, but not overly decorated. I did not see a bot get stuck on a jumppad and I like the way the bases are arranged for CTF and Greed (it's different and in this case is good). (in case anyone is getting a little deja-vu, I'm just posting reviews in here like I should have done long ago):)
