hey

i cant be satisfed with my morpheus remakes since someone found a weird blocking volume bug on one tower...

....so i ll "built" a third and definitive version with that bug fixed (if i can succed) and with no BFG references; i ll call it DM-EBR-Morpheus3 or something like that as i heared it s a cool way to put yer initials in the tittle :p


i try to fix a very strange collision problem with no success....

here s the problem: when u play; u are blocked by some invisible "wall" here and i cant figure what is doing that....i tryed to see what it is but nothing is there...no blocking volume and nothing...

it s on the highest tower(rocket launcher one/yellow tower)

it s not at the border but right in the middle of the plat form; it dont jump to eyes first but if u try to fire in thats area u llhurt it with bullets
u can be blocked by it but it s in the air

u can walk under the bv; it start on your head
thx for taking time to try it....though i think u missed it as i did first.....

to find it it s easy, in game fire that area it ll stop bullets or jump it ll block you

WTF with that invisible BV !!!....cant understand what is wrong here:

i have delete all the static meshes; all volumes and the problem still unchanged

i want to publish a last and finally "final" version of this one but i m stuck on that BV volume affair....frustrating

if someone can try it again it had help me a lot to get new ideas...i have no more ..haha^^


@dies: i m sure u just have miss it..
the volume is large and high but slim as a "paper"
.try to launch a rocket or a shock ball there and u ll see it; u can walk under the BV that s probably why u missed it :(

Do you no what is the first stuff I always do when I have those kind of trouble??

I make a full rebuild !

You have probably remove/delete a brush or a BV at this place without rebuild.

So, just rebuild your map and it's ok ;)

Ahh Bl!tz suffers his 1st BSP hole. buggered.gif

Sometimes BSP can do weird things if you've asked it to do something it doesn't like, especially with subtraction brushes. The main sympton of a BSP hole is invisible barriers in your map.
This issue won't be visible in the editor so don't bother looking for it!

What you will need to do is check any BSP (brushes) near the affected area or brushes on the same plane (x,y or z using the grid in the editor to locate them) that the barrier is on. eg.. the BSP that's causing the issue may not even be near the barrier, but it'll be on the same plane.

All you will probably need to do is modify the aligning BSP slightly and it should fix the issue. If the issue is still there, but in lesser form, then modify the BSP some more.

Check subtraction brushes near the area before any additive blocks as I believe subtraction brushes cause the issue moreso than additive brushes.

?????...........i do same seb; i did several full rebuilts and the problem still here

i ll do another but i have a serious doubt

Sometimes when you play around too much with the vertex tool or whatever it's called, the bsp you did it to becomes completely ****ed up.

i promise you mates i didnt do any "extra" in this map

@jonathan: i havent substract; havent use the ununiform scaling widget and i havent play with the vertex tool ...lol....i discovered it yesterday :)

@seb:joker!...of course after a new rebuilt the problem is the same (video from the new build)....i have try to fix that problem hours long without success and believ me if i ask it s for the challenge because i m off on this one....need some lessons more haha ;)

@Mick:rofl....u really believ i hadent any other BSP ****....haha?....i think i do approximativly 300 saves for each map....i know why...haha...and it seem u too...i had holly****s with BSP but keeping bsp in "geometric natural axes"; back to previous betas and "undo tool" are now my best friends

To fix ya issue.

Select the blocking volumes as shown in the pic;
Blitz-hlp1.jpg 

Switch to the vertex editor (shameless plug) and, using the top down view, select the verticies (using a ctrl-+alt drag) as shown in the pic below;

Now move the verticies towards the tower buy 2 increments(set grid to 1 first).  Rebuild bsp and ya problem should be fixed!

Issue is gone after a full rebuild! thumbsup.gif

rofl, nice if you have finally resolve your trouble !

Mais je t'assure que j'ai ouvert ta map dasns l'éditeur, joué dedans pour comprendre ou était le problème, j'ai bien vu que j'étais blocké vers cette tour, la ou tu as pris tes photos, et je suis retourné dans l'éditeur, j'ai fais un rebuild de la géométrie, je suis retourné dans la map, et l'erreur de BV n'y était plus...

for now nothing is fixed; i m on fire on Peak...first beta & first break in the next hours :)  ...and a good break on morpheus with a fix in my bag ....cant wait :p

lol...UT3 et ses mysteres

pour l info je viens de faire ma premiere "sequence kismet" sur un ascenseur et PTDR...l ascenseur fonctionne mais de temps en temps il se decale (point de depart et point d arrivée) et il reste decalé jusqu a la partie suivante....c est pas la premiere fois que je vois ca mais sur ma carte ca m ennuie deja beaucoup plus haha^^

je te chambrais...merci d avoir essayé ;)

lol....................it dont work!
first i did what mick said with no success; after full rebuild no changes

so i decided to be more radical and i have delete all the BV around this area and full rebuild....the problem still unchanged

here how look the tower and as u see no more BV ...

mick if u re sure that you have fix the problem (i have serious serious doubt!) i had be very happy if u had upload the uncooked file

cant understand....or i m stupid and i cant do it myself or u have miss it too...

ok ....i have restarted the map from "0" and i m revamping a last final from bsp again without that fraqn invisible bv

quite funny how fast i can do the job now....3rd time :p


if someone have an hour to kill one of theses dayz it can be usefull to hunt the bv bug in the BFG version...still no valide fix or explication for now....no bv and no mesh on the map = still that bv!...=...lol +.+

Maybe you tried this... but make sure your lights and light cones have collision off. That blue box you drew indicating the BV is hovering right above a light cone is why I wonder if that could be it.
