Hi, I have made my DM-DemonsKeep final now. I Did some serverside tests and had to fix some smaller issues, but now I don't know what else I could do there...
Many Thanks again for all your testing and feedback!
DM-DemonsKeep: This level is a remake of the Quake 3 level Q3DM15 - Demon Keep
Current Version: Final
Credits: Thx to: Chonglee for his "Quake3 Export for UT3" Tutorial. All members of the UOF community with some very usefull tutorials, tips and hints. Especially thx to Stevelois for his "How to include custom music" tutorial, and Odedge for his cool "Directional Jump Pad Emitter Package". And of course I want to thank Uncle Bl!tz for testing some unreleased Betas of the map, and being a good friend with his advice in Unreal and Real life ;). [BN]-=OUCH=-, because some of his great Maps are responsible that I have (re-)started playing UT3 at all.
Very special Thanks also to Prometheus and Twisted Records for allowing me to use the great track "Mekong Delta" for background music in this map!
This is my first map for an Unreal Engine at all.- I am used to the Hammer Editor and the Source Engine, so my first results for UT3 might not be the best...

stevelois wrote:I know that some forums are very bad & are full of *** but for the UT related one is ok imho. I'll see that... They flamed me and some others to death yesterday in steam forums, just because we complained about the new Steam 2010 Client UI which we were forced to update to, and which has made all our custom skins useless.
stevelois wrote:It would be a good idea to publish the final on Epic / BU to obtain more comments. Yeah it were a lot of comments for > 1300 downloads... Either my map is totally crap, or Epic is dead. I think 90% of the forum action there are UOF members only...
Only few persons post there maps since they want feedback but are to cheap & lazy to post on others mappers thread to help them out in return. Not that it is mandatory but helping one and another sometime is healthy on severals areas.
Above that, you have this bunch of ****ing morons who don't post nothing to help & give threads 1 stars, even on other threads like tutorials & such. It's so mean, stupid &
Very deserted, very sad.

i have note that some month ago it was systematic for us to support eachothers on epics even if we had post something here on UOF not just to get 5 stars but to show that we are a solid & coherent group....lot of us dont care bout stars rating system but i bet that newbie users (thoses who need installers haha) watch the stars to DL maps when they have to choose i dont remember any final map from one of you where i havent write a little congratz sentence and add 5 stars...it take 1 minute maximum(apologies if i missed one accidentaly) as steve mentionned it it s very pleasant to get a little friendly encouragement or at least a little "thx for credits" if u are credited and dont want to write a lot...lol when i see the efforts of mappers to build quality things and total indifference from their mates it just makes me sick same here on forum sometimes "welcomes" are very short imo ...not really the best way to get attention
damn it was my "preacher nite" ...time for my herbtea now

Well, I didn't post there too much in the past myself, just because I wasn't mapping for UT3 at that time, and I am concentrated not only on UT3, but 4 or 5 other games too, which I even play more often than UT3. The other thing is that my RL is full of **** too these times, but when I have time left enough, then I do of course test some other maps and try to give feedback (which only makes sense in my eyes if the issues I have found not already have been posted by others in the meantime). Therefore I do not expect hundreds of feedback myself, but if a map has been downloaded more than 1300 times, then i am am a bit surprised that there isn't any other feedback except from UOF members...
But what even is annoying me more than that, is if someone is asking in the forums how he can solve a problem, and then no "Thank you" when he gets help... I know that this one guy already has read my reply on his question because I saw him there 30 minutes later.

Yep, I saw that many times & it's another example of how people are to cheap & lazy to write "THX".

I like this for the 99 feel it gives. Good layout and gameplay. Your fog volumes for the lava are very nice touches.
The only things for me were a little too dark in places and i noticed a lot of textures badly aligned. I always notice alignment, must be an OCD thing ...LOL A trick for this is the tex align material from UT2004. The colored grid with numbers and letters. This i keep on my C drive for anything BSP based that wont align in the normal way.
LoL..., now as you mention it... I have found some texture alignment issues too... I am shocked that I haven't seen them before, especially because there even was a totally displaced big brush in the same area which I corrected in the last final update... I should have seen them latest at that time, lol... Maybe I need YOUR glasses... But... since no-one else seem to have noticed them (even not the wrong brush lol...), I think it's no bigger problem with them.
Btw... the only map that is a little bit too dark for me, is DM-DarkMatch... rofl...
Thx again for testing, I am glad that you like it.
regular > no recommended player load in the preview shot, the fire and smoke look good but the lava looks terrible (ok not terrible but it could be better), I like the music but I'm not sure if it fits the map but I shouldn't complain because I can actually hear it and it's good.:) The layout is the same or at least similar to the original but it seems to be lacking some detail that UT3 can provide. The gameplay is the same and I noticed haste (I think that's what this is called), invisibility and quad damage included from Q3 while playing. Also, looks like the gauntlet changed to spiked balls instead. Overall a decent remake, but it could have used some more details to make it look better; oh, and I almost forgot that some corridors are way too dark. I played it again tonight and it's actually not too dark, I like the red/blue symbols, the bots are good and I like this version the best.:)
SRV version > very dark, like the red/blue symbols and techno music, did I mention it was dark? Crosses replaced by hanging mace for obstacle course, bots still good, I like this UT3 version better. no recommended player load or author name in the preview shot, the fire and smoke look good but the lava looks terrible (ok not terrible but it could be better), I like the music but I'm not sure if it fits the map but I shouldn't complain because I can actually hear it and it's good.:) The layout is the same or at least similar to the original but it seems to be lacking some detail that UT3 can provide.
