What as been done for the FPS version based on the 'NE':
Final 1.0:
. Remove all dynamic lights and replace them with static lights. Dynamic lights are responsable for the low FPS you may encounter in the regular 'NE'. I also enhance the lighting in general
. Remove some fire emitters
. Remove some fire sounds
. Remove all smoke emitters
. Remove all physicsvolume used to inflict damage associated to the removed fire emitters
. Replace the moon SM by a less complex SM & enhance the material
. Reduce sky material complexity
. Remove some plants
. Switch all pickups around except Bezerk to obtain a new gameplay
. Tweak the Bezerk water volume
. Redone preview screen
Final 'NE' 1.1
. Adjust all postprocessing effects outside the play area once again. It's more black & white than blueish
. Adjust culling & collisions values on big rocks outside the play area
. Add more blocking volume from the RL weapon base location to the helmet location
. Tweak the torch material
Comments:
I change / replace things from the day edition to create a completely new gameplay & a different atmosphere.
Take note that the Night Edition is visuals oriented. It include lot's of emitters (fire, smoke, night flies) & also use a huge amount of dynamic lights. I did what I can to optimize the map but still you must have a powerful GPU to truly appreciate the atmosphere & visuals. Now that your advise, don't complaint if your experimenting low FPS on your PC. Instead, if your experimenting to low FPS (like 30 or less), grab the 'NE FPS' which is gameplay oriented.
The regular ‘NE’ is very hardware demanding mostly due to the huge amount of dynamic lighting. The goal of the FPS edition is to roughly obtain the same amount of FPS as the day edition & also use the night theme. The gameplay between all editions isn’t the same because all pickups (weapons, ammo, medium health, vials & armors) as been switched all around. I didn’t want to only just replace the dynamic lighting with static lighting & leave the map like that but rather make some drastic change to enjoy another gameplay
