I swore I wasn't going to do this :(  But, looking at the great maps you guys manage to construct and being in the right place it seems for a bit of friendly advice etc, I think it's time I at least learnt the basics.
Apart from the mapping tutorials on the Epic site any suggetstions for other places to look for tips?

My advice is to start by checking my thread on Epic & learn following Waylon Brinck tuts, it's well made.

When you understand the basis, open up your favorite maps, see how others as manage to build the "frame" which is the BSP geometry (like my Aly map). See what mesh are used & with fir together. when you'll have something to play with, add sounds & such.

I's important you learn to make the BSP first & put the deco (mesh) after. Don't make the mistake of making all your level with mesh because it's not the proper way to do things.

A good level have a solid BSP frame first, the rest is polishing & personalizing.

GL Jerry ;)

Yep & it's not your first map neither ;)

Building an entire level on mesh is ok but it always depend of the theme. For buildings, BSP is the starting point, for outdoor env., only mesh can be fine since there is a terrain, rocks & such ;)
