I post this info so I can share it with all of ya.
After some multiples reinstallations of the game, I found it very long to redo everything each time by installing the game + the patche + various packs & finally the custom content.
There is a lot of reasons why you must reinstall the game so no need to go deeper on that.
Here come the tip ; a very simple thing you can do. You install the game & all the stuff. when your done, copy the game folder & rename the copies folder by adding a simple letters that tell you it's your backup.
With the time if a file is corrupt, just take it from your copy folder & replace the other one that seem to cause the problem.
By example, all my games are install in this folder :
D:\Games
So, for this game it's :
D:\Games\UT3
An my backup folder is :
D:\Games\UT3.ori
PS: I add .ori so that means it's the original installation + all my stuff
If you install another pack or whatever stuff in your original installation, copy the same stuff in your backup folder to have a 100% copy conform installation.
It's very practical if you must uninstall the game caused by a Windows registry corruption. In this case, uninstall the game, delete your UT3 folder, reinstall the game so the Windows registry entry are redone, install the patch only & copy your backup (UT3.ori) in the new installation so everything is back to normal.

At least, with this method, you just need to reinstall the game & the latest patch so you don't need to install Ttan pack + all the custom stuff, you just have to copy from your backup :)

I've tried a couple of installation formats now. The one i prefer is -nohomeredr with leaves everything in one place. However, i couldn't get map mixer to work with that method and I really like map mixer so its gone back to default install. I'm running out of hard drive so a back up copy of UT3 main files is not an option. I have never come across such a buggy and sensitive game!!! The slightest problem and it throws all its dollies out of the pram and runs around the hard drive spreading discontent. Of course, when it crashes my sound drivers pack their bags and piss off back to Realtek, the nvidia drivers make a dive for the exit and the whole pc sits in a corner sulking for a few mins.
This i should have thought of...just had a full reinstall...LOL I lost all my own previous maps and i had removed from file planet too. So frustrating.
