That damn star system is no sh***.

I never understand why people take the time to vote & give a low score & this prob is in all threads, not just maps threads but in all sub threads.

I also suspect someone from Epic because it's much to quick to see those damn stars appear or else it's an assle that as nothing to do that refresh the threads every 2 mins... which is not possible imho.

BTW, I post 2 new pics of aly on my blog :)

lol....dunno if jonathan is joking but to be honnest the lanterns look weird to me...what are they doing here?
one have fallen here...ok...no luck...but it still enlighted??a second fall some meters later...damn! call the guy who have install the lamps and get your money back...haha...jk ;)
why and how are they enlighted?....and why doesnt that light impact the floor texture and doesnt cast any reflexion or brillance?
....all that imho and with no offence :p


for the rest looks good steve & good job... i remember u told us this will be a fast & simple map...
...dunno why i never have believe you on that point ...haha ;)

I dont dislike those lanterns though, it's the ones with the extra thing for hanging on walls I'm not very fond of.

Love the lighting on the latest build Steve! Lools a lot better now! thumbsup.gif

Regarding the 2nd alpha release of Amytis it will be a UoF member closed Alpha and the archive will be password protected.  Basically I don't want the general public seeing it in such an early state...they can wait. bleh

PM me if you are interested in checking it out and I'll reply back with the password that will be used.

Unfortunately I keep finding things to tweak/add so I'll stop myself sometime and will get the alpha uploaded later this week. aww
Main thing I'm working on is getting all the teleporters in place and some BSP cutting to open up the platforms on one side of the map.

For those that tried the 'layout test' the gravity is a bit lower but not much.
Framerate will be very interesting on slower PC's though....

Blitz,

Come on mate, your to realistic with the enlighten lanterns on the floor, it's Unreal damn it :p They just fall there. I see the lantern like with a bright candle in the middle & there is shadows, the pic just don't shows justice, as always lol Mate I see those shadows on the tiles........ take a pill now lol :D If we stay logic, all the lanterns are attached to rock walls or bricks walls so it's not like it make more sense mate. The guy who as install those is an incompetent lol

BTW, how the flu !?

Probably a good point in that if any public peeps do grab it it'll only be a couple of them.

In the past I've always had closed betas as I prefer to have the good testers check my maps then later on have the public see the finished product. It's old habits that made me think of doing another closed alpha.

Speaking of which... I reckon more peeps are becomming aware of UoF so there's more anonymous visitors cruizing this site now.

BTW dudes, my blog is now uo-to-date. It as been a lot quicker than I thought in the first place. I also add more stuff. Only thing remaining to be transfert is my "level editing section" which will have some changes.

I send a PM yesterday to flak on Epic, asking to delete my dedicated thread, he (or she) was surprise of my request lol I explain why but I didn't had any answer after ? Since I can't access Epic from work (which I am at the time of this writing) I can't verify is they had been deleted ?

oh yeah i remember that guy and i remember one of his maps with at least 50 shock riffles close to each other ...a pure s***...unplayable and blurry as possible...lol...and he told noone was abble to understand that kind of tech maps....rofl!

For your GPU,

Quality/price go for ATI Radeon 5870 or 5850. There are better products anyway.

275gtx's are definately a good card at an OK price...however...if you go bang for buck 4890's are the way to go! 58xx series are still to pricey IMO, especially when you can SLi/CF a video solution that's cheaper than a single 58xx.  The 57xx series retail to around similar prices of the 275's/4890's but they are slower cards.

That all said and done though...I chose the 275's over 4890's.... aww
I was experiencing a few dual screen issues while using my 4870, which were driver based and across different driver versions.  These issues I never experienced on any Nvidia card/driver set which was the decider to go back to the green team. smile

I don't know but I lost 10 posts on the epic forums I didn't spam or do nothing bad so what happen.

The only other reason is a clean up happend last night.

Yeah, it happen once in a while. When it append, the last bunch of posts get deleted. Look like they have prob with the forums & put a backup back.

i have finally install Windows7 integrale and i have to say that it launch faster and that it look better than vista (even if i was fully satisfed by vista)
....and in bonus UT3 and UT2004 give to me a more "fluid " feeling in all kind of mooves and actions....even the aim seems better....after 6 month all the drivers have been updated and the bugs fixed...;)

Well, since W7 is Vista+, no wonder why it's a better product. As for XP at the time, Microsoft did they homework.

Sometimes I wish there would not always come a faster GFX card, a better CPU, a new RAM technology...,...,... and so on...

This means that my GTX 285 will again be an useless antique in 2 years at the latest, grrrr.

Bane, If you decide to go for a 295gtx don't. SLi two 275gtx's as they'll be quicker and a lot cheaper (by 100bucks or more) than a 295gtx.

Yeah but my mainboard don't support SLI only crossfire ATI. Damn :(

Yeah I looks online at a Hobart IT store and they sold GTX 295 1.7GB for $804.00 and thats Australian.

800bucks fark that's steep. cry
Google your motherboard.  Some sites reckon it supports SLi.  You may just need to buy the SLi cable. Two 275's will cost around $550.
Otherwise order a card from www.pccasegear.com.au (melb shop).  I've used them a few times and they're pretty good!

It's got two PCI-E slots ones only 16x Main the other I think is 14x not sure.

I started reading a book, earlier this year, from the series "Saga of the Seven Suns". It's a Sci-fi epic that spans 7 novels. If you like a good extended sci-fi story I hightly recommend this series.
I've almost finished book 2 now and have already brought almost the rest of the series(missing book 6 cry) as it's getting very interesting! beer.gif
Warning though...the first book takes a while before the good/interesting stuff starts happening (about 180pages in)
