Hi mates,

trying something different this time.

I'm working from this Uncharted 3 concept art by Robh Ruppel:

http://gamersblock.net/gamefluid/?p=3520

Since this is a wip thread I'll post step by step screens from beginning to completion.

This is the first time I'm doing this kind of work. So if anybody got some crits or suggestion please post here, espacially when it comes to overall composition.

Here's what I got so far. Please note that many meshes are either placeholders or not yet final. Background is also missing completely.

Not sure yet. I won't do an exact replication but trying to get the overall atmosphere.

Some are duplicates. As for those with the brick texture there are 3 small and 3 large wall meshes.

double post,

does anybody know what these things are supposed to be?

Looks like some kind of shade maker to me but I wasn't able to find a real world reference plus it's also looking slightly strange in terms of stability.

Looks like some decorative clothes to me. Reminds of the stock version of the UN_Flag mesh.

Judging by the poles, on the background one, I reckon it's the remains of a fabric shade cover Malk.
Think of an outdoor shade cloth!
Something like the thing on the pic on this page www.structureflex.com.au/ except it's all torn.

Yep definitely cloth, often seen in middle eastern countries as roof over buildings like the one in the picture there :)

Thanks for all the answers and links mates. I'm trying to get some decent results by using blenders cloth simulation.

Here's a pic of the wall meshes, which are all mapped to a tileable brick texture. I'm using vertex colors to blend some cracks and also sand.

top notch mate... very realistic , do u plane to add some "blur" to the whole scene? (to fit to the wind + sand natural "fog")
