I was wondering what you guys are using for your BSP work? Google Sketchup?, Blender? Maya, etc.

I know the editor has limited capabilities as far as BSP; some of the really cool brush trim, shapes I'm seeing is obviously designed in something else I assume, I just wanted to get some opinions from guys on what they use or what they feel is the best / easiest.

Thanks in advance.

I stick with what the editor allows me to use. Given that BSP can be very "temperamental" if you don't play by it's rules, I try not to be too creative.

My next map will be a very BSP looking map, but made entirely in Blender (for the most part). This way I can use more curved surfaces that BSP just doesn't handle well.

winkGotcha .. yeah I hear ya. I've seen some really neat BSP shapes before and I thought maybe peops were making some of those in blender.

I've wondered before if I'm doing it the hard way trying to do everything in the UT editor. wink

I do believe the editor has some "modeling like" capabilities (like extruding). In a way, this is what you can do in Blender and such. You just got to keep all of the vertices snapped to the grid. At least in the editor, it's easier to align textures.

I made my Sixaxis controller using nothing but braaaaaains smile

Its funny how you make almost everything using BSP if you use the faces correct.

Derez is such a good map. I'm in love with your textures as well!
Maps like these really show that BSP doesnt need to be hard in order for it to look effective!

Thanks for the kind words.  Besides a few base texture from Hourences, I made everything in Gimp.  Most of them are just basic grid patterns and such.
