I updated the main post after looking into the dragon rider a little more. Thanks for the recommendation.

TBH I'd go for a Nvidia gfx solution. The recent Crysis 2 upgrade has severly pointed out the Radeons poor Tessilation performance!

2 cents...

GTX560 is basically a GTX460 with higher clocks and some optimizations, so either go for a GTX460 and save some money or get the GTX560Ti which costs a bit more but has a significant performance plus over the non Ti.
Edit: Ok, the link name was not proper, it's a GTX560 Ti so everything is fine :)

The mainboard isn't even made for the 2600K, you have to look for S1155 boards. Besides there is honestly no need for such an expensive mainboard even though EVGA boards are always expensive.
If you want an EVGA because they have good support, espacially for you in the US or other reasons you can get this one:

If it's just the black color you are looking for this is a good equivalent:

Main post updated. Almost everything has been changed and the price is much more reasonable now. I am using two 6870s instead of a single 560ti now. I was thinking of using a 570 or 580 considering how much money I had left over but after seeing many benchmarks and reviews it seemed that two 6870s would outperform all of the other cards in my price range in the vast majority of cases (excluding games that were optimized for particular cards, as the results are swayed one way or another in this case and aren't typical) the two 6870s are also cheaper :)

I was also thinking of using the i5-2500k instead of the i7-2600k because of the price difference and the fact that they perform identically when playing games. However is was hard to justify the change since the i7-2600k outperforms the i5-2500k in video rendering and programs like... the UT3 EDITOR! :P

The SSD has also been changed from a 128GB model to a 64GB one to save money. I was only planning on using it for the OS and programs anyway, so it doesn't matter much in my eyes.

hey guys, I would really appreciate your input on this computer. I've never built one before and I just want to know if you guys do or don't agree with my choices so far. I am dangerously close to finally buying this thing.

Hi, just one suggestion. Don't get 2 card but a single faster one. There are several disadvantages if you are running cf or sli.

First of all the CF support is not very well. If there is a new game you won't get more frames because the guys from amd/ati need to implement a profile in the next driver version first. with sli you can setup a profile individually, btw and the gain is higher in average. All in all the single card will be the better choice performance wise - don't care too much about the benchmarks (even though i'm the wrong person to tell you this ^^)
Besides you can save some money with a gtx570/hd6950/6970

Secondly, you might get problems with micro stuttering. If you con't know what this is have a look at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOtre2f4qZs

If buying a new PC I would always go for the best single card I can get for the money I have. If this one is too slow anyday there is still the opportunity of an upgrade with a second card

I was running 2 different (midrange) CF and one SLi Setup too. It also depends on the personal preferences but I usually don't have the money for the big cards so I did not have the choice in the past ^^

i only did it with 1 years old cards haha....cost me less than an actual big one
example(1 yr ago): 2x100 euros on E-bay (or in shops when they sold end of stocks) for 2x gtx285superpipe (new they was over 300€) costed me less than a gtx480....than a gtx470 and quite less than a 460...yeah yeah ok it s just for the example haha^^

so....i only wanted to tell is that if u have the money go for a "actual"big one ( better results and less problems)and if u want to spare some money u can go for a pair of "outdated" big ones...it can happen that u save money and perhaps...get better results ....but as often i cant stop typing!...lol...

i think my next one(s) will be a 6970 lighting or a pair of 6850cyclone or  6950 twinfrozrIII(MSI told u can run em with a 6970 bios....but on the reviews i saw that the reviewers often failed to do it +.+)

...did someone read/hear/test something bout thoses bios tweaks/updates allowing 6*50 series to be running 6*70 series shader frequencies?

I think I may end up getting a single 6870 at first. This is just because my parents don't understand why anyone wants a computer for games or anything else for that matter. They seem to think that it's a waste of money, and talking them into a reasonable price range was no easy task.

In the future, when prices go down I may get a second card (when my parents are more acceptable) and just hold onto the cash until then.

Thanks for all of the great input guys! :D
