hi mates

i often convert maps from previous UT editions and i noticed that "normal maps"( i probably use wrong naming ...the blue texture with /for 3d brillance & relief) are always missing.....and all look way better with some "relief"

is there a simple way to build that from the original texture?

advices, link or easy tuto are welcome....thx in advance

I haven't checked the "new topics" in a few weeks, so I am a bit late.

The normal maps I made for my DeReZ map was made from the "original' textures. GIMP has a plug-in (you have to download it). which allows you to convert a standard texture into a normal map.

It's best if you use a grey scale texture though as it will see the white areas as the parts "sticking out" towards the player, while the black ones are "going away" from the player.

Yeah!  The GIMP plug-in was created after the link I just gave you.  The one thing I think you need to remember is to invert the "Y" axis.
