A quik tutorial for Animating a Skeletal Mesh!

1. - Add your Skeletal Mesh to your map! (don't forget to enable 'Light Environment')

2. While the Skeletal Mesh is selected create a Matinee.

3. Add a Skeletal Mesh Group. (as shown below)

4. Go into the Generic Browser and selet the animation set that you want to use! (shown below)

5. Add the Animation set(s) to the Skeletal Mesh Group (shown Below)

6. Now just add the animation key and choose the animation you want to use!

Tips:

  • If ya using a run/walk animation use the movement track to move the mesh while the animation plays! (shown below)
  • Chain different Animations!

do you think it s possible to import skeletal meshes & it s anim from ut2k4? cant do it with the converter

Dunno myself.
At a guess maybe the model then use one of the UT3 animations on it.(if that's possible)

I'm pretty much a n00b at Kismet right now, do you know how to spawn ragdolls that don't dissapear? Could need that for the corpses of the crew and the prisoners. smile

I need to do the same thing myself and have just used assets from the gibs package until I work out the proper bodies.

THere's two types of skeletal meshes you can add to your map. I can't remember off the top of my head what the difference is, but use the 2nd type.
I'll look in an hour or two and let ya know which one to use!

Don't worry M8!

I made the 1st one then couldn't get the 2nd one working until I worked out wtf was happening.

Basically you select your desired skeletal Mesh in the generic browser.

Next you right click to create it.  You'll have two options to use (shown below).

In the pic above there's two types of Skeletal Meshes.  One will animate and the other wont.  I think the one I have highlighted is the correct one...otherwise it's the other one.

 

Don't forget to add the animation sets to the kismet sequence. (step 5 in the tutorial at the top of the topic)
